As the harvest of the vintage finished a few months ago in the Bordeaux vineyards, the year 2021 has been synonymous with anxiety and then relief. The weather phenomena as well as the diseases did not spare the vineyard.
Volumes are down compared to previous years but the first observations on this vintage remain optimistic.
The relatively mild climate of this summer has revealed fruitier and more aromatic grapes which would orient the product towards more elegance and freshness.
Verdict in a few months, at the Primeurs tasting.
2020 is coming to an end and we would like to thank you for your trust. Strong commercial relationships have been acquired but also renewed thanks to our close bonds and the work of our team who accompany you daily.
This year has been shaken by many exceptional events that have spared no one. Nevertheless, thanks to the partnerships we have maintained, we have been able to bounce back and start the year more motivated than ever.
In this respect, 2021 will be a year full of ambitious projects! We are going to strengthen our presence on the digital, allowing us to keep our expertise in "Grands Crus Classés".
In 2021, we will show you that our reactiveness is still our strength.
Before giving few words on this campaign, we can say that the Vinexpo 2019 edition, which was moved from 13 to 16 May 2019 instead of June. The press was not very kind about it. Finally a success wine fair different from the other years but still as important in highlighting the Bordeaux industry.
First of all, few words about the climatology conditions. The Bordeaux vineyards were confronted with an rainy winter and spring, generating a mildew pressure never seen in the memory of the winegrower. Fortunately, a dry and sunny summer combined with cool nights saved the quality of the vintage.

At the end of a dynamic 2016 futures campaign more than promising, we’ve just finished a new edition of the Vinexpo trade fair has the picture of this campaign.
If the dramatic freezing episode of May 3rd and 4th remains in all the memories, we stay optimistic at this moment, on the consequences of a climate favorable to the development an upcoming great vintage.
The volume of wine production will certainly be impacted, but we are up to this date, on the road to an early harvest that could give us a 2017 Vintage of very good quality.
Wishing you all very beautiful summer
After a busy period, due on one hand to a high quality and a significant price increase 2015 futures campaign and, on the other hand, to the completion of a “very important HMS project”, we would like to take the opportunity to wish you happy holidays.
We will be back at the beginning of September, when we will update you not only about our business projects and events, but also as to the quality of the 2016 vintage. July’s dry and sunny weather helped to clear up the concerns regarding the quality of the next vintage.
Despite a hot and dry summer, the diverse rains in August and September characterized the vintage. Thanks to these excellent climatic conditions, the vine and the fruits could grow under good conditions and thus reach a natural level of sugar with thick skins’ grapes but ideally mature. The year 2015 will give wine quite well-balanced, silky and bright.
To conclude, the vintage 2015 can be viewed as qualitative as the one of 2005. That is to say not like 2009 or 2010, but above the four last vintages.
The last two months have been characterized for HMS by a Vinexpo Bordeaux fair quality with a beautiful closing ceremony (the Fête de la Fleur) with all of our customers.
The post fair period was commercially quite dynamic with the validation of some large orders in both futures that deliverables.
Vineyard side, the months of June and July were characterized by dry and sunny weather which, to date, suggests a pretty vintage 2015
We cross fingers that all these positive trends continue and take this time to wish you a great summer vacation.

After avery difficult summertime, the late-autumn has been characterized by very favorable weather conditions which allowed the grapes to achieve the best ripeness.
In the glass, the vintage has a harmonious balance between sugar and acidity, which bodes a beautiful aromatic complexity.
The appellations didn’t take advantage in an uniform way of these weather conditions and, if we considered the vintage as “great”, we will call it homogeneous with two designations which have especially succeed this year: Saint-Estèphe and Saint-Julien.
To conclude, the 2014 vintage is closer with a 2004 or 2008 vintage, more affordable and, above all, most in line with what Bordeaux is used to produce.
In a little less than two weeks, in Bordeaux, we await the coming of worldwide wine buyers for the presentation of the 2014 vintage.
The futures’ tasting week which takes place in the Bordeaux’ properties is a major annual event for the entire profession to get a first idea of the quality. It is also the starting point of the futures’ campaign launching concerning wines that will physically be available one or two years later.
If the press seems to say that the 2014 vintage will already keep its promise in terms of quality, it will take some months to know what will be the price.

In Bordeaux this year, the crop return to normal with a total production of 6 millions of hectoliters.
After a rainy winter the weather turned to a soft and dried spring giving specially good flowering conditions.
The first 20 days of August had been very humid, but the sunshine and very warm weather appeared and last till the harvest. The exceptional September sunshine brought back the smile to the winegrowers.
Good news, they are now expecting a particularly good or even very good vintage 2014.

The HMS Bordeaux team has tasted the 2013 vintage on primeur.
The 2013 Bordeaux vintage went through particular weather conditions. The abundance of rain had delayed the vine blossoming by a month. However, the summer has been quite mild to the vine and helped make up for lost time. The harvest suffered from poor weather and the total quantity of grapes, in some vineyards, was halved. As a result, the vintage is globally uneven, even though some regions of the Nord Médoc fared well against the bad weather.
From our professional tastings carried out in early April, it emerged that the 2013 Bordeaux vintage is characterized by fruitiness & freshness and is to be consumed early.
The HMS Bordeaux team is happy to announce officially our participation to Vinexpo 2013. This worldwide known wine fair will take place from the 16th to the 20th of June 2013, in the Parc des Expositions of Bordeaux-Lac.
Our stand is located in the Hall 3, stand R322. We would be pleased to welcome you in our booth, perfect to share and work in.
HMS Bordeaux will welcome the candidates of the Left Bank Bordeaux Cup on the 12th of June 2013. This student tasting tournament - organized by the Commanderie du Bontemps - is one of the most famous of the world. Functioning in the same way as the America's Cup, the LBBC is the stage of a struggle between students from America, Asia and Europe. They all have in common their passion for wine and the certainty to become the managers of tomorrow's world.
HMS Bordeaux will welcome them in our new premises, and we hope that this event will launch in the best possible way their week end in Bordeaux.
The HMS Bordeaux team has just tasted the new vintage and gives you a few thoughts about it.
The 2012 vintage has been affected by a complicated blossoming due to a late winter which carried on until may. The summery drought that followed blocked the ripening of the grapes. At last, september has been a very rainy month, which has delayed the grape-harvest in many properties.
Despite these negative meteorological events, the 2012 vintage seems to be quite fine. If its structure is less pronounced than the 2010 and the 2011, the 2012 is full of fruits and freshness and the wines are to be drunk quickly, for an immediate pleasure.
HMS Bordeaux just moved to our new premises - the "Dutch Houses" - located at the 29, quai des Chartrons, in Bordeaux. These buildings, classified in the UNESCO World Heritage, shine thanks to their majestic and atypical signs.
The choice to move in the "Dutch Houses" was not trifling. It symbolizes the rise of our company, but also a return to basics, to the roots of the Bordeaux Wine System. Indeed, the Chartrons neighbourhood used to be the heart of the "Négoce" at its beginnings.
Feel free to come visit us whenever you want!
The 2011 harvests are now over and HMS Bordeaux wants to tell you its thoughts about it.
The chaotic climate which accompanied the harvests (long dry period during the spring, coolness and humidity during the summer and a very fine autumn) forced all the Bordeaux’ properties to make a big work of sorting. The quality of the vintage should not be exceptional just like 2009 and 2010 but more like the 2004 and 2008 vintages much more in agreement with what Bordeaux is used to producing: wines more typical of each appellation.
